Graduate Students 🔥

We are accepting graduate students in the Graduate Biomedical Sciences programs (GGB, CANB, BSB, CMDB, or others) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Students with experience in statistical data analysis, computational programming, protein biochemistry, or animal models are preferred. If you are interested in our research, please email me directly with a CV and a brief description of your research interests and experience to schedule a rotation.

Postdoctoral Fellows 🔥

We are looking for highly motivated candidates to join us to pursue the innovative and competitive research projects in cancer epigenetics. If you are interested in joining our team, please email me with a cover letter summarizing your research interests and accomplishments, a complete CV, and contact information for three references. Priority will be given to candidates who have prior experience in deep sequencing data analysis or experience in animal models. 

Bioinformaticians 🔥

We extensively uses next-generation sequencing to analyze genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptional pathways in normal and cancer cells. The lab is looking for talented individuals with strong programming skills in R or python and with background in statistics or bioinformatics. If you are interested in joining our team, please email Dr. Lu, and include a CV and a cover letter describing what you have been working on and why you are interested in the lab.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduates are welcome to gain some research experience by working with a postdoc or a graduate student in the Lu Lab. If you are interested, please check the “where-to-start” page provided by UAB Office of Undergraduate Research, and send me an email for a potential opportunity. Please indicate your previous research experience, long-term goals, and proposed time commitment in the lab.

Research Technicians

We are looking a research technician with experience in molecular biology and/or cell biology to help with our ongoing projects. If you are new BS/MS grads looking to gain experience before applying to PhD or MD programs, this might also be an excellent opportunity.  Please submit your CV with previous lab experience, a cover letter indicating your career plan, and contact information for references by email.
